Do not be alarmed when you receive a notice that you have a 0 in an assignment when you have been absent and are in the process of making it up for me. You will be given the allotted time to make up the work, and the 0 will be changed to a grade.

Take-Home Test on The Secret of Laurel Oaks. -- A formal academic writing. Students need to be careful and do a good job (100 points).

HW for 9-27

We are still working on the novel project. Presentations have been changed to Thursday. Voc. 4 list is out, and students should be completing the worksheet and studying the words for the test Friday. Grammar unit will officially begin either Friday (after voc. 4 test) or Monday.

Mon., 9-26

Still working in class or novel group projects. Presentations are Wednesday. Test is Thursday on novel.

HW for Mon. 9/26

We have no specific homework for Monday. The students are still working on a group project concerning The Secret of Laurel Oaks. My plans are to have the questions/answers/poster done by the end of the period on Tuesday. We will make presentations on Wednesday. We will have a test on the novel Thursday.
There will be Voc. 4 next week, though.

Voc. 3 Test and HW
We will be working on an individual/group project and testing on The Secret of Laurel Oaks for the next week or so. Right now I am estimating that the question answers/poster/presentation should be next Wednesday9/29. The test should be Thurs. 9/30. I will let you know if there is a change.

Just a note to parents: Any child who has been absent and missed an assignment, we have to put in a 0 until the work is made up. As soon as the child makes up the work, it will be changed and posted correctly.

Also--If your child has one of the books I have assigned, (or any assignment in which I give them permission), on the Nook, IPad, Kindle, etc., he/she may bring it to my class. However, he/she should not get it out in any other teacher's room unless that teacher has specified work to be done in class using it. Also, the school is not responsible for damage, loss, etc.

Please forgive me for forgetting to put yesterday's homework on. It was "one of those days." We are having The Trouble with Lemons test today. I do my best, but I am sure that I will occasionally forget. Remember that it is on the board every day, and I have encouraged your children to write it in their agendas when they get to class.

No homework over the Labor Day weekend. We will begin a regular routine of vocabulary each week starting Tues. Also, we will begin Literature Unit 1. Students should have their textbooks and have stored them at home for homework purposes. We have class sets to use here. I'm having trouble getting Barnes and Noble to deliver my books in a timely fashion. If your child has bought from me, he or she will hopefully receive the first book on Tuesday. I have changed the deadline for that book to September 21 because of the delay in getting them.
